Overview

The Elfangor vinyl toy is a an exercise in branding design when taking a Toy Design class during my undergrad studies.. I have always been a fan of vinyl toys and this book series called Animorphs. The goal was to create a vinyl toy and the accompanying packaging.

I started off by researching vinyl and POP toys to get a sense of form.

Next, I researched the inspiration behind the toy; the andalite Elfangor. I wanted to make sure I captured the character's essence.

Finally for the branding part, I always loved the actual packaging from the toy so I incorporated their elements into my design.

Sketches

Needed to carve out some ideas on paper by sketching.

Modeling

The 3D modeling process was quite the challenge but was worth it because it forced me to come up with unique ways to model in order to achieve the design I sketched. This subsequently improved my 3D modeling skills overall.

Renderings

Animorphs was a very dark kids show so I wanted to use bright colors in my renderings to make the vinyl toy more kid friendly.
